April and Ryan's wedding!!!

Well, an amazing day has come and gone. April and Ryan got married 9/19/09. It was in their home north of the cities. It was amazing. We truly had the best vendors doing all parts of the wedding. La Vie did the photography. Capture Studios did the video. We had bartenders from Liquid Motion that threw bottles (like in the movie "Cocktail") There was an amazing Ice Sculpture from Ice Carvings Inc. The rentals from Apres were to die for. The catering which was mouth watering and so professional and with a super nice staff to boot (nearly 25 of them!) was done by Darek from Russell's on the Lake. The most amazing part of the whole day...was that the reception was in there metal shed...you never would have known it! April knew what she wanted she just didn't know what she wanted...so she brought me on board to plan and design her wedding. It was spectacular! We over the past 300 days spent so much time together that a great bond was made. We hand picked every item for her wedding. Although it is all-consuming, it is the best job I could ever dream of! I loved picking every detail, from forks to the right color of celedon green. Then came all the fun and original touches...which I LOVE and totally recommend! It is just over 3 minutes and this is just the sample of the video!!!! :o) I am so excited to see the photos and the rest of the video! We are a spectacular team if I don't say so my self! :o) We are excited to launch The Hip Chick Co. Can you believe it! On Sunday my baby will be two years old! We recently celebrated his birthday which consisted of dancing, cake, presents and good people. Gabe who is known for his cleanliness was pretty upset when the cupcake showed up on his plate and there was no fork. He wasn't about to pick it up and get dirty! Too cute. He also is very fond of golf after receiving a golf set for his birthday and had a breakdown after dad tried to take away his club (picture above). The highlight for his birthday...Violet. Gabe has a bit of a thing for her. He hugged her and even shared his golf toys with her! :o)

Let me introduce to you Gerald and Toni. This couple is so awesome! I am so blessed to know them. We had an ABSOLUTE blast in New Orleans as well as at their wedding. This couple knows how to throw a party. I have never been at any other wedding where this many people were dancing the entire time! It was so great. They had a Jazz Band lead them in for their Grand Entrance and all the wedding party and guests were followed in by the band. It was a great experience. New Orleans was great. Gary and I both were invited down by the couple and they hosted us in a great hotel in the French Quarter. We enjoyed much cuisine and a hurricane or two! ;o) Thank you so much Toni and Gerald. You are a great couple!

Cabin Fever...and what happens!

Ok, so it is just butt cold here, there really is no other term, technical or otherwise to describe it. The kids are "trapped" as Hava has said, and it takes lots to be creative with our time. Today, the only thing we could do to keep Hava happy was to let her draw a kitty on her face. From time to time, we draw whiskers and a nose on her face to make her a kitty, but being that her new favorite phrase (which totally breaks my heart!) is "I do it my self", I allowed her to draw the whiskers herself. After seeing Hava's masterpiece Gabe asked me to make him a dog. Then I brought out the camera, and Hava wouldn't have any part of having her picture taken, but in perfect Hava and Gabe fashion the boy let me take his picture. Never do they both want or not want the same thing! So please do enjoy, I sure did!

Mike and Nikki are two amazing people, amazingly nice (Nikki) and funny (Mike) but mainly I just love these two people! I have know Mike for at least 15 years. We have many fun memories together! I was dually honored to be their wedding photographer because I got to be their photographer for starters and to see the wedding from all angles, and because I am their friend. It was an amazingly beautiful wedding and the whole weekend was an absolute blast! The hotel was so beautiful and restful (for the most part!) My night with Celine!

Tonight I was blessed many times over. First, that Gary brought me home tickets for the Celine Dion Concert, Second, that I could go. Third, and most importantly that Martie could go with me.

What an amazing show! She can perform and it is a perfect spectacle. Every note, her pitch, everything...perfect. She not only was amazing as an artist, she talked like she was talking right to me. It was so personal, she is so normal and relaxed, yet an amazing professional. It was an exceptional night. I do have to say that God was present for me there too. I felt touched by the spirit, and her words spoke to me in ways I needed to hear. I feel rejuvenated! Too be honest, I felt like going would be a fun night out, but nothing amazing. I was so blessed! I had an amazing time! Thanks Celine!

Jack Attack!

This sweet chunk of love is my neighbor. I am blessed enough to live on a street with stay at home moms and kids galore. It makes this frigid place a little more tolerable! Jack is just about 6 months old. His mom and I do play days as frequent as we can, and this little guy is just so fun to watch grow! He loved posing and has a real love for the lens. As a first generation American (my mom came over on the boat...literally) I take pride, like the rest of you, in my right to vote. As I waited in line starting at 7:00 this morning I was surrounded by people young and old. My neighbors, and new friends and I shared stories of our children. Not once did we mention who we would be voting for. I found great pride in this as well. One of my neighbors who is an American by choice had a smile on her face as she too has the right in this great country. The next three hours I spent out and about with my kids and I saw lots of smiles exchanged as all of us voters proudly displayed our hard to miss, red "I Voted" stickers. I think it is awesome that the lines are long at voting sites around the country. Our great nation affords us the right to cast our opinion and vote. I am surrounded by people who don't agree with my stance on politics, but we remain friends and loved ones. This is because, first and foremost, we are Americans, then we are a political party. I think the past 22 months have made it difficult to focus on the fact that is stated all over our great country "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" Although we may disagree whole heartedly on the issues, one fact remains the same, if we allow the outcome of an election to divide this great country we are allowing our rights as Americans to fall away. So regardless of the outcome of this election, let's stand UNITED as a nation and support the country we love so much. Go America! Go Soldiers! Go Elected Officials! Go Civilians! Go Neighbors! Go Families! Let's unite! When I was serving our country both stateside and overseas in different locations I never ran across someone who didn't believe in our country. We may have stood on separate sides of the aisle on different issues and some times the same side. One thing we never forgot was our patriotism to this great nation. Whether born American, or American by choice, we are all Americans despite any difference we may have. We have and are continuing our growth as lessening gaps set forth by God-chosen differences that not one of us can control, whether it be age, race, sex, ethnicity... we are all here; with red, white and blue running through our veins. We are afforded the right to vote, the right to fairness, the right to have an opinion and not be abused or forced another direction. Today we have been afforded the right to have a say. I suggest we reach across our figurative aisle, grab the hand of your neighbor, co-worker, family member, and say, 'let's stand united today! Let's stand united always.' Go America.

Halloween - start to finish

My babies playing outside in the beautiful Indian Summer weather (I am neglecting to remember the snow from last weekend). Hava & Gabe had such a fun time today. We started the day playing in the leaves, then off to lunch with our friend Julie...then after naps we got ready for the fun night ahead. We went to "Pumpkin Patch" at Calvary Baptist in Roseville. The kids got to pet baby goats (which Gabe thought was a dog), chickens (silkie chickens, are so beautiful...I want one!) donkeys, rabbits and a ferret looking thing. Then off to go trick or treating around the church, the kids got TONS of candy...then we rode on a horse drawn hay ride. This was so fun, especially with the weather being so beautiful. After that we went into the glow room, got our picture taken and came home to trick or treat in the neighborhood. It was so cute. Gabe absolutely loved taking the candy and putting it in his bag! Fortunately our neighbors know us and thought it was cute! It was so much fun to see all our neighbors dressed up! My favorites, short of my Vikings...were the Roeckeman's baby Jack was dressed up as Yoda, Rachelle was Princess Leia and Kyle was Hans. They were perfect! It was so fun. After going to a few homes, we came back home and gave some candy out to the kids that visited our home. The kids loved it! They were dancing and running around the living room waiting for more kids. (Hava had one piece of candy and Gabe doesn't even know he has candy yet!) So tomorrow will be fun I am sure!

Hava and I went on a date to pick out some pumpkins and go out for hot chocolate last weekend. The boys stayed home and watched football. We had a really good time with our matching hats and all.

It was nice to have just time alone with the girls! I loved concentrating on just her. Gary and I are going to start "dating" our kids, each week doing something alone with just one kid. That way each of us can have that special alone time with each kid.

Jamie, David and Ellie...what can I say...this family is just plain beautiful. I couldn't take a bad picture, from their perfectly coordinated outfits, the curls in the girls' hair, amazing eyes, and Ellie who completely stole the show...It was a great photo shoot. I shot Jamie and David's wedding last year. It was a beautiful event. I am honored to continue to work with them as a photographer! Congrats on your first year! Both of them serve in the Army and will be deploying come the end of the winter, so keep them and all those serving this fine country in your prayers!

Such a great big sister! Even if she may be torturing him in the next shot! I love a shot like that. Look at his face, then look at her serene dazing expression. So perfect!

Ok. I am sure you remember these cutey pie kids from an earlier posting. Travis (dad) is my chiropractor. I do just want to spend a minute telling you about his practice. He uses a different method that is much more comfortable than I have ever had before. Today is a rainy day, and both kids and mommy were growing wearing of the indoors (we have a long winter ahead of us...) needless to say, the convinced me to let them play in the rain (or 'da wane' as they put it.) So we all went out side and splashed each other, and kicked around, then we decided to throw rocks in the puddles. We also picked up a few leaves to make an art project for Daddy for his birthday! [Happy Birthday Daddy] I then decided that I had to get my camera...so here you go.

Today, we had a photo shoot, of course yesterday was beautiful...today was as rainy as Seattle. I am so glad too. We shot at Guthrie and around the mill and it was a great shoot! Wendy, Patrick, Lydia and Luna made the shoot just fly by! That area has so much to offer for shooting.

These two adorable children are my cousin, Megan's kids. We met for a playdate a the Edmonds Beach and I could not resist! All the kids had a blast playing on rocks, in the water and of course the sand! It was great to see them again. It is amazing how fast kids grow up when you are not near them...

Hava and Madison are going to be great friends when they get older. Just like their mommies!

A Dead Man Saving Lives...

A hero as defined by the dictionary is "1. a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. 2. a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal. 3. the principal male character in a story, play or film." The man I am about to speak of was all of these. Most importantly is to know is that he was a hero on and before September 10th, 2001. His job made him a hero, his heart made him a hero, his wife allowed him to be a hero, his mom worried about her hero son. He was a hero because his life choice was to save people. He is a fire fighter. The most respected job in America. All of them are heroes, all of them sacrifice themselves, for others. You can see it in the eye of a child when they see a fire fighter, they see a hero. So Bobby, my friend and family member through marriage (see Merry in earlier blogs) was a hero on and before September 10th, 2001. What happened, why isn't he a hero any more...because you see, Bobby is now a Super Hero. Not the kind you see in tights and bright colors (that may be an idea, though, Bobby) Bobby is the kind of Super Hero that God placed on this earth to save people, time and again. Bobby is one of only a few NYFD brothers to make it out of the disaster we now know as 9.11. God selected Bobby. Bobby would never be able to tell you why it is he that is chosen to be here. Everyone around Bobby could tell you with ease. I don't know Bobby too well, only have I had the honor to spend time with him on several occasions, but they have all been meaningful. Most recently on my trip out to NYC did I get to hang out with this Super Hero. If you were to see Bobby walking down the street, you would think typical stud New Yorker. He never draws attention toward himself. That is a true Super Hero, not one that parades around barking orders, one that is a humble, strong man who seeks not the judging or approval of others, but just sets out to help others. During my visit to NYC, I was able to hear him tell stories. How he was able to get out of the WTC, and how God has put him to use, saving more lives, now even without a fire hose in his hands. Bobby saves the lives of 9.11 victims even today. He is here with a purpose to share his story. To talk with survivors, to help them through. He is an amazing man. Should he be dead? If you ask Bobby, he'd likely explain that he can't believe he isn't. If you ask me, I'd say, No, God has bigger work for him here on earth. If God were to answer that question, I believe He would say, I was with Bobby that day, he has some more work to do for me here on earth. Bobby has made an amazing impact on the lives of those he has touched. I am sure the duration of his life he will touch so many more people and save so many more lives. Bobby, thank you for serving, thank you for saving lives. Thank you for listening to God and getting yourself out of there when you did. God needs you to continue saving lives. You are not a hero, you are a Super Hero.

Bobby has an assignment for all of us, call those you love and tell them. Everyday starts out the same for everyone, but doesn't end the same for everyone. Make sure everyone you love, knows you love them.

Ok, so honestly so far this is my favorite kids photo shoot. It doesn't mean the other ones were not so super fun and cute, it is just that these two kids truly pulled at my heart strings. Mary, can I have them! :o) We had a great time, and I had a hard time editing ANY pictures out, when your kids look so stinking cute, there is no point in editing them out!

These boys were the easiest to shoot. All they did was play on the Mukilteo Beach and every shot was just as I could dream! I had a great time shooting this family. It was fun as a mom of a boy and girl to see two boys playing and how similar they all are! Loving dirt, sand, sticks, water and rocks! Thank you boys for making my job easy, not to mention super fun!

Ok, this kid DID just walk off the pages of Land's End. When Julie (who is becoming very popular on this blog!) told me about Leah's son, Logan she said that this adorable boy is all but a J. Crew model and I agree!

Have you ever seen two more beautiful girls!?!
They were so great to shoot, and that is their backyard! It was an amazingly beautiful location to work in. I found this couple from Julie (earlier posts) and she has referred me to her neighbors so I was able to just walk a few houses away and keep shooting. It was a great day. I really enjoyed the Ipsen Family and hope to see them again in the future, thank you four for letting me take your pictures! I had a fabulous time!

This is Gretchen! Her and I have become better friends over the past year. I am so glad to have been able to get to know her. She is a great lady, with great humor and drive! I am excited to take more and more pictures of her lil girl as she grows!

Small Friend Sadie

I met Sadie when she was 10 days old. I have been honored to take her pictures about 2 times a year. Every shoot is completely different. Ross Baby Girl...

This beautiful child was just begging to have me take her picture. While in NYC for fun and a baby shower I was able to lay eyes on this gorgeous little face. Her mom Theresa has a nice SLR camera so I resisted temptation to take her picture. However, a few hours after the shower Theresa brought her over to Jane's house and viola...temptation was cured and all it took was about 3 minutes of camera time! I'd love to introduce to you, Emily. A sweet little reminder of God's true perfection. Emily is the daughter of some of our greatest friends of all times! They hail from Winnipeg (that is Canada) tee hee hee. Jen and Ger have been friends of ours for years now, we have enjoyed many visits over the past years and although our visits now are much different, they are just as fun, if not more memorable. They are amazing parents and I am going to take away so much from their visit with us this weekend. I love their hands-on, teaching with sweet Emily. Who is just as sweet as they come. I only wish I had time to play with Emily more, my kids are a bit interactive and require mom much!

Either way, it was more than a joy to have this wonderful family at our home. I am honored to be able to take Emily's pictures!

Hi Heidi- We are so forever thankful!!! You have captured our daughter in a way that we as her parents maybe could have, but without your professional "eye" would've been impossible. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!! Ash left for India yesterday, so these pix's will be a constant for us so we don't miss her so bad. We had a family prayer time (the WHOLE fam) on Saturday evening to send her off. She's so excited and ready to do whatever the Father asks of her. We alllllll LOVE the pix's. They brought tears to our eyes (good ones). You are an amazingly talented woman that the Lord has gifted. We are so happy to know you and are so thankful for the connection that He has made.
